Cello and piano recital to boast Russian flair

Pianist Philip Adamson and cellist Ben Gitter enjoy the energy and complexity of 20th century music. For their recital this weekend, they have chosen an all-Russian program which includes Igor Stravinsky’s Suite italienne, sonatas by Dmitri Kabelevsky and Nikolai Miaskovsky, and two works by Nikolai Kapustin.

The recital is set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 30, in Assumption University Chapel.

This event is the second this season in the School of Music’s Gallery Concert series featuring music faculty. Dr. Adamson is a UWindsor associate professor of piano, piano pedagogy and literature and skills. He has performed across Canada and in the U.S., Mexico, and Europe, and has been heard frequently on CBC radio. Dr. Gitter is currently active in southwestern Ontario as a cello, theory and orchestra instructor, adjudicator, and chamber musician.

Tickets to Sunday’s recital are $15, just $5 for students. Order by phone at 519-253-3000, ext. 4212, or purchase online at www.uwindsor.ca/music.
