Basketball doubleheader to feature Toronto Raptors’ fan zone

The Lancer basketball doubleheader on Saturday, December 3, in the St. Denis Centre is being dubbed Toronto Raptors Night. The NBA franchise will send its mobile fan zone for fans to tour, and youth in attendance will be eligible for Raptors prizes and giveaways.

Former Raptor player Jerome Williams will be on hand with members of the team’s coaching staff to sign autographs and pose for photos. He will be joined by Gino Sovran, a 2002 inductee to the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame and the last living member of the Toronto Huskies team that played in the Basketball Association of America’s 1946/47 season. Sovran, a Windsor native, signed with the Huskies while taking a break from his engineering studies at Assumption College.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation will also be in attendance, inviting fans to find out how they can help make more children’s wishes come true with its Go Blue! Go Bald! Events.

The main event features the national champion Lancer women’s basketball squad tipping off against the Queen’s Gaels at 6 p.m.; the men play at 8 p.m. Find more information, including a complete schedule of events, at goLancers.ca.
