All-star game a showcase for best of women’s basketball

Lancers Bojana Kovacevic, Miah-Marie Langlois and Jessica Clemençon will suit up together under familiar leadership when they take to the court Saturday for the fifth annual Ontario University Athletics women’s basketball All-Star game: coaching the West team will be Chantal Vallée and Josh Leeman.

Langlois, a point guard, was named defensive player of the year by both OUA and Canadian Interuniversity Sport. Her 77 steals and 107 assists led the league. Forward Clemençon, the 2012 OUA West MVP and 2011 CIS Athlete of the Year, finished third in scoring across the province, posting 17.59 points per game and making 53.1 per cent of her shots from the field.

Joining the Windsor contingent will be Jenny Vaughan and Laura Dally of the Western Mustangs, Kayla Santilli and Nicole Rosenkranz of the Brock Badgers, Taylor Chiarot of the McMaster Marauders, Jasmine Douglas of the Guelph Gryphons and Lindsay Druery of the Lakehead Thunderwolves.

The team will face off against the challengers from the east at 7:30 p.m. April 28 in Wilfrid Laurier University’s Athletic Complex. The OUA All-Star game is being held in conjunction with the 2012 U16 Major Midget Ontario Basketball Association provincial championships, with games taking place in the Kitchener/Waterloo region all weekend.
