Kinesiology grad to discuss movement disorders

UWindsor grad Jeff Holmes (MHK 2003) will return to his alma mater Friday for a lunchtime lecture exploring the relationship between multi-tasking and the risk of a fall for people with Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Holmes is an assistant professor of health and rehabilitation sciences at the School of Occupational Therapy, Western University.

As a principal investigator within the Interdisciplinary Movement Disorders Laboratory, Holmes’ research program focuses on the non-pharmachological management of a cluster of neurological disorders known as “Movement Disorders.” Although he is interested in a wide variety of disorders, his research predominantly relates to impairments demonstrated by individuals with Parkinson’s disease. He is working on projects that evaluate the extent to which individuals within this population experience difficulty when attempting to multitask.

His talk, entitled “Meta-Cognitive Cueing: Helpful or Hazardous?” is free and open to the public. It will start at noon November 6 in room 145, Human Kinetics Building.
