Performance to explore methods of augmented space and perception

Intermedia artists Elke Utermöhlen and Martin Slawig of Germany’s blackhole-factory will join Noiseborder Ensemble for a performance entitled “Master Control,” on Thursday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Lambton Tower’s Studio A.

Utermöhlen works with live electronics and computers to develop research-based and site-specific installations. She plays improvised music: experimental use of voice in combination with real-time processing software and found objects. Slawig uses custom-built instruments, objects, field recordings and digital media with his own software for performances and installations.

They have been serving as artists-in-residence at the University for the last two weeks. Blackhole-factory develops performances and installations utilizing the creative tension between information technology and the physical presence of bodies in space.

Their performance with UWindsor’s Noiseborder Ensemble is free and open to the public. Find more information on the ensemble’s website.
