Georgie brothers to aid Odette Leadership Symposium

The legacy of building leaders put in place by philanthropist brothers, the late Edmond and Louis Odette, is a torch now being carried forward at the Odette School of Business by brothers Vincent and Trevor Georgie, through the newly established Georgie-Odette Leadership Symposium.
The event, scheduled Jan. 31, 2014 at the Caboto Club in Windsor, will feature interactive sessions by 14 top-tier business leaders, including Gary Kovacs, CEO, Mozilla Corp.; Paul Alofs, UWindsor alumnus and President and CEO of Princess Margaret Hospital; and Cynthia Trudell, Executive VP for Human Resources at PepsiCo. It is expected to draw 400 participants from industry and from universities.
The Georgie brothers, both UWindsor graduates, are title symposium sponsors of Creating 21st Century Leaders, presented by the University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business. The event is aimed at enhancing the ability of the business school to assess and develop its students’ leadership capabilities and is one of three main elements of the Odette School’s Richard Peddie Leadership Initiative.
In addition to his PhD work at HEC Montreal, Vincent Georgie received an MBA from the University of Windsor and is currently a UWindsor marketing professor and the Faculty of Business’s MBA Program Director. His brother Trevor also received an MBA from UWindsor and is currently Marketing Manager for a division of SmartCentres. Trevor previously worked for Richard Peddie at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, and has been involved in leading sessions in a number of corporate leadership programs.
The Georgie brothers say they are anxious to help carry on the legacy of the Odette brothers by supporting a project that will shape the futures of business students in their early years.
“Bud and Lou Odette built Eastern Construction as a team and from scratch,” said Dr. Georgie. “They shared their considerable success in so many valuable ways with the community at large, and with those generations of students at the Odette School of Business who will benefit from their generous spirit for years to come. By supporting the Georgie-Odette Leadership Symposium, my brother and I are recognizing the importance of giving back to our University and our community and we encourage others to do the same.”
