Picture the Windsor-Detroit region 10 years from now. What will it be like? What do you want it to be like? These questions frame this year’s Wayne-Windsor Symposium to be held in Vanier Hall’s Katzman Lounge on Friday, October 18.

For better or worse, the bankruptcy of the City of Detroit is a turning point. The Detroit that emerges from bankruptcy will affect the future of the greater region.

Among the topics under discussion are: arts and culture in an urban renaissance, integrating trade and movement across an international border, community organization and activism, and the shared history of the Detroit-Windsor region.

Presentations commence at 9:00 a.m., with lunch beginning at noon followed by the keynote address by Detroit Free Press journalist John Gallagher, author of “Reimagining Detroit.”

Other panelists include:

• Bill Anderson, Research Chair in Cross-Border Transportation
• Luther Keith, executive director of Arise Detroit
• Siobhan Clare Gregory, professor of art at Wayne State University
