UWindsor grad Lara MacMillan will promote her second album with a concert celebrating its release Saturday, November 23, at Mackenzie Hall.
Mackenzie Hall Cultural Centre is the setting for a concert to promote the new self-titled album by singer-songwriter Lara MacMillan, a UWindsor grad (B.Ed 1996).
The 10 original tracks will take listeners on a journey through the genres of cabaret, folk, pop and jazz, running the gamut from the driving cabaret-pop of All Your Black Colours through the unrequited love and existential angst of ballad Victory Café to the political satire of the groove-laden GunsR4ever.
The CD features MacMillan at the piano with contributions from seasoned pros Roger Travassos on drums; Mark McIntyre on bass; Dean Drouillard on guitars, keyboards and percussion; Bryden Baird on horns; Robbie Grunwald on Hammond organ; Drew Jurecka on violin and viola; and cellist Amy Laing.
MacMillan was a performing arts teacher with the Toronto District School Board for 14 years before moving to Stratford in 2010 and opening MacMillan Music Studio, where she offers instruction in piano, voice and song-writing.
Her Windsor stop is set for Saturday, November 23, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $16 in advance, $20 at the door, and are available from the Mackenzie Hall box office, 519-255-7600.
