Artist to discuss eclectic creative process

Artist and musician Satch Hoyt will discuss his eclectic process employing a variety of collaged materials: vinyl records, sounds, burnt guitars and afro combs, in a free public presentation on campus Thursday.

Hoyt makes sculptures and installations–often accompanied by sound–as well as paintings and drawings. The dichotomy between these genres allows for a dual and complementary reflection on the African diaspora and its multifold consequences. He is also a flutist and percussionist with the Burnt Sugar Arkestra Chamber, and has recorded a new album in Berlin under the pseudonym Pharoah Dreams.

His appearance, part of the School for Arts and Creative Innovation’s Visiting Artist Speaker Series, begins at 7 p.m. in room 115, LeBel Building.
