Women’s volleyball and hockey competing in playoff quarterfinals

Four Lancer teams will compete in Ontario University Athletics playoffs this weekend, but fans will find the action is all away from home.

The women’s hockey team will complete its best-of-three series against the Queen’s Gaels, with games Saturday and Sunday, if necessary, in Kingston. The Lancers are down 1-0 in the series after dropping the opener 2-1 at home. Adalena Tridico scored the lone goal for Windsor.

The women’s volleyball team will meet the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton for a first-round match-up, with an appearance in the provincial final four tournament at stake. It marks Windsor’s first post-season play since claiming an OUA title in 2006.

The men’s and women’s curling teams are hosting the OUA championship tournament at the Guelph Curling Club. Play started Thursday and will conclude with the gold medal games Monday.

The track and field teams are also in Guelph this weekend, to compete in the Guelph Open meet, their last test before the OUA championships in Toronto next weekend.

The men’s hockey team will complete its regular season in Toronto, with games Friday against the York Yeomen and Saturday against the Ryerson Rams.

Finally, women’s and men’s basketball will wrap up their regular season schedules Saturday, travelling to St. Catharines to take on the Brock Badgers.
