Interdisciplinary artist to discuss practice
Andrea Slavik: interdisciplinary artist, educator and co-founder of the Momentum Film and Video Collective, will discuss her work in a free public artist’s talk on the UWindsor campus Wednesday.
Slavik’s work seeks to deconstruct popular narrative practices and forms of representation active in the visual environment. Through juxtaposition, adaptation and appropriation of these visual texts and strategies, she hopes to bring to light ideological structures at work in the everyday culture in its most ubiquitous, often humorous forms.
She is one of the exhibitors in “Border Cultures: Part Two,” now on display at the Art Gallery of Windsor. Her talk begins at 2:30 p.m. March 19 in room 115, LeBel Building.
