Public receptions this weekend will celebrate the openings of two exhibitions by artists associated with the School of Visual Arts.
The Art Gallery of Windsor will host a reception Friday, April 25, for UWindsor professor Sigi Torinus’s Into the Light. Using photography, video and objects, Torinus develops multi-sensory installations that ask viewers to consider how individuals navigate space and one’s assumptions of places that are foreign or unknown to them.
Part of the Fridays Live! series, the reception begins at 7 p.m. The gallery is located at 401 Riverside Drive West, and Into the Light will remain on exhibit through June 15.
A free public reception Saturday, April 26, will celebrate Walk Home, a thesis exhibition by MFA candidate Amanda Dudnik at SB Contemporary Art Gallery.
In Walk Home, Dudnik uses a combination of painting and writing to engage with the canvas in an introspective process. The surface of the canvas references a space of displacement, where only impressions of a text and image relationship appear to resonate.
Saturday’s reception runs 6 to 9 p.m. at SB Contemporary Art, 1017 Church Street.
