UWindsor employees encouraged to register for Take Our Kids to Work Day

Grade nine students who have parents, relatives or friends working at UWindsor will have a chance to walk in their shoes November 5 during national Take Our Kids to Work Day.

This year marks UWindsor’s first official participation in the program, which has been sponsored by the Learning Partnership since 1994 and supports youngsters connecting school, the world of work, and their own futures.

The event will offer grade nine students a variety of planned group activities by the faculties of engineering and nursing among others, as well as the opportunity to job shadow their hosts for a portion of the day. Students and their hosts will also be treated to a complimentary welcome breakfast and lunch.

“This is a great opportunity to support the career exploration of young people, showcase what the University of Windsor can offer, as well as enhancing the students’ understanding of what their parents or hosts do every day,” said Rita LaCivita, chief human resources officer.

Organizers ask employees who wish to participate to register by October 14 the grade nine students they are hosting at http://www.uwindsor.ca/takekidstoworkday/. This website includes program details as well as important health and safety information.
