Workshop to speak to making a living in the arts

Join some of the region’s most accomplished artists Thursday, October 16, for a discussion of the practical aspects of their professions.

“The Art of Business and the Business of Art” will include presentations on everything from self-marketing to tax preparation, from the perspective of practicing artists.

UWindsor instructors Kim Nelson and Marty Gervais are among the guest speakers in four concurrent sessions:

  • Acting and Dance performance;
  • Visual Arts;
  • Literary Arts; and
  • Music and Spoken Word performance.

Presented by the Windsor Endowment for the Arts as part of the programming for the Art Gallery of Windsor’s Possible Futures: What is to be done? The 2014 Windsor-Essex Triennial of Contemporary Art, the workshop is set for 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator, 720 Ouellette Avenue.

Admission is free, but seating is limited, so organizers require registration in advance. Find more information, including the online registration form, on the endowment’s website.
