Campaign promotes walking to improve overall health

Let’s Get Moving and Walk Across Canada challenge.

Fitting physical activity into a busy lifestyle can be difficult, so the Workplace Wellness Committee has launched the Let’s Get Moving and Walk Across Canada challenge. The aim of the virtual cross-country walk is to encourage UWindsor staff and faculty to walk as a perfect way to be more active at work.  

Participants will be encouraged to walk the distance from Victoria B.C. to Halifax between May 19 to August 21, with a prize drawing at the walk’s conclusion.

The committee says walking in the short term can:

  • Reduce tension and help alleviate anxiety and stress;
  • Increase energy levels;
  • Help participants get a better night’s sleep;
  • Improve mood;
  • Enhance metabolism and help in digestion.
