Reception honours top new science students

An annual reception to recognize science honour students has grown so large, the dean had to split this year’s edition in two.

Friday, September 11, the faculty acknowledged the efforts and academic potential of 78 incoming first-year students with entrance averages of 90 percent or higher. More than 150 people, including guests, attended and received a portable charging kit that includes a power bank and car charger embossed with the Faculty of Science logo. They also heard from alumnus George Fischer (BSc computer science 2006) who discussed the career opportunities available to graduates.

A second reception this week will honour current students who qualified for the dean’s list.
