Looking for a good book?

Dear Internet: It’s Me, Avery, the debut novel of UWindsor author Jennifer Ammoscato (BComm 1985), will be launched on campus on Wednesday, September 30.

The launch, being held in the main lobby of the Welcome Centre from noon to 1 p.m., will include Ammoscato reading a selection from her humorous fiction novel, the first of five in the Avery Fowler series with Toronto publisher, Blue Moon Publishers.

Light refreshments will be available, in addition to a door prize giveaway that will include Godiva chocolate.

Ammoscato, manager of marketing, publications and web in the Office of Public Affairs and Communications, says that the idea for the book occurred to her while chatting on the phone with a friend going through a divorce.

“I Googled, ‘How to get your husband to communicate,’” she says. “It took all of 1.4 seconds to find a step-by-step process for doing exactly that.

“I thought—wouldn’t it be funny if someone blindly followed that sort of advice to figure out her life? And Avery was born. She’s actually every person who gets a shaky feeling when they’re out of Wi-Fi range.”

If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to Ammoscato at 519-253-3000, ext. 3242, or at ammo@uwindsor.ca by September 23.

Dear Internet: It’s Me, Avery will be available in print at the Campus Bookstore, Chapters, Indigo, Coles and local independent bookstores. In addition, it can be found online on Amazon and Kobo.
