The University of Windsor invites applications until November 1 for the position of Canada Research Chair – Tier 2 SSHRC in Viable, Healthy and Safe Communities with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2017 (or later). This position is subject to final budgetary approval and approval of the nomination by the Tri-agency Institutional Programs Secretariat.
The following criteria apply to candidates applying for this position:
- Tier 2 chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars (i.e., candidates must have less than 10 years of experience as an active researcher in their field at the time of nomination).
- Applicants who are more than 10 years from having earned their highest degree (and where career breaks exist such as maternity, parental or extended sick leave, clinical training, etc.) may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process; contact Diane Awram at dawram@uwindsor.ca for more information.
- The University of Windsor requires that the candidate have a PhD degree and currently be employed full-time in its Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the rank of associate professor. The initial term of the CRC Tier 2 SSHRC is five years with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance review and CRC policies and guidelines, which are described at www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca/. The underlying position attached to the chair will be a regular tenured associate professor appointment.
The successful candidate must be an internationally recognized expert in a field of research related to viable, healthy and safe communities and have an excellent track record of research and funding successes. In addition, the successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of successes in building and managing collaborative projects related to viable, healthy and safe communities.
The chair is expected to establish, conduct, coordinate and lead research projects, and supervise undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows. Find more information in the online posting of the internal search.
