Art school grad to discuss practice at the intersection of traditional and conceptual

The School of Creative Arts will welcome alumnus Andrew Wright (MFA 1997) to address his non-conventional approach to photography in a free public artist’s talk Thursday in the LeBel Building.

Wright has exhibited both nationally and internationally. His practice is at the intersection of traditional and conceptual forms of art-making, challenging lyricism and traditional pictorial aims in favour of an exploratory, evocative approach.

Chair of the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Ottawa, he is the recipient of numerous awards and has received critical acclaim for his work in publications such as Canadian Art, Border Crossings, the Globe & Mail, the Toronto Star, and Maclean’s Magazine.
Wright’s talk will begin at 2:30 p.m. November 10 in room 115, LeBel Building.
