Author to share stories of Windsor Police history

book cover: The Border PoliceFrom the chaotic days of the 19th century to the present, the constabulary in Windsor has proven to be a tough-minded, scrappy lot, says Marty Gervais.

Resident writing professional at the University of Windsor, he will share stories from the 150-year history of the Windsor Police force in a free public presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 4, in the Moot Court, Ron W. Ianni Faculty of Law Building.

Entitled “Stories from the Beat,” the event is part of a weeklong celebration of the police service’s 150th anniversary. Gervais — the city’s poet laureate — will recount anecdotes drawn from his 1992 book, The Border Police: One Hundred and Twenty-Five Years of Policing in Windsor.
