A complimentary barbecue will set the tone before the Lancer football game on Saturday, September 30.
The tailgate party, sponsored by the UWindsor Alumni Association, will start at 11:30 a.m. inside the stadium. A ticket to the game is required for entry; students admitted free with valid UwinCARD.
The game itself kicks off at 1 p.m. on Alumni Field. The Lancers will host the Queen’s Gaels in what promises to be an intense contest — both teams are looking for their first win of the season. And it is one of the nine games set aside for the Ignite Pride campaign, which offers prize incentives for student attendance.
The event is part of Alumni Weekend celebrations. Friday, September 29, will see the dedication of the David A. Wilson Commons at 10:30 a.m. and a Party on the Commons starting at 5 p.m. The Alumni Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony opens at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 1, in the Ambassador Auditorium, CAW Student Centre.
In other varsity sports action, the women’s basketball team will host a pre-season exhibition against Humber College in the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse on Friday, September 29, at 7 p.m.
Men’s basketball will take to the St. Denis Centre court to play Centennial College at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Men’s and women’s soccer are in the thick of league play and will take on the Western Mustangs in London on Saturday.
The men’s volleyball team is in Toronto for the Humber Cup tournament, with matches against York University and Mohawk College on Friday, Cégep de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Durham College on Saturday.
Men’s hockey will face off against the Guelph Gryphons in a pre-season game Sunday in Ridgetown.
The cross country teams are competing in the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington on Saturday.
Finally, Lancer golfers will tee off Saturday in the Waterloo Invitational, Sunday in the Laurier Invitational, and Monday in the Guelph Invitational.
