Co-op student sends a “danke” from German placement

It didn’t take long for business student Anthony Ivankovic to appreciate the support he received from the University of Windsor in helping him situate in Europe.

Ivankovic, currently serving a co-op work term in the ball bearing division of the Schaeffler Group in Herzogenaurach, Germany, sent an update on his experience to date to the Co-operative Education and Workplace Partnerships office. He arrived just a few weeks ago and has already explored Istanbul, Prague, and Munich.

“The co-op office did a great job to prepare us for Germany!” said Ivankovic, “There is a great sense of community and support that exists among the UWindsor students at the Wonheim and Germany as a whole.”

He is one of 19 UWindsor students working a year-long co-op placement in Germany. Hundreds of University of Windsor students gain experience each year through work-integrated learning opportunities with employers in Windsor-Essex, through Ontario and Canada.

Engineering professor Peter Frise developed an industry partnership that sends a steady stream of UWindsor students to Germany each term to work for the Shaeffler Group and TÜV Nord.

Students in engineering, computer science, and business programs have opportunities to apply for work-abroad opportunities as part of their co-op experiences. See what past participants have said about their time in Germany:
