The inaugural Social Enterprise Pitch Competition hosted by the Entrepreneur Practice and Innovation Centre (EPICentre) on Friday, September 21, offers two ways to participate:
- Apply to pitch your social enterprise business idea to a panel of judges (applications due September 7); or
- Sign up to attend the pitch competition as an audience member and come watch individuals try to sell their business ideas to a panel of judges.
The competition is open to individuals and teams with a social enterprise at any stage of development — from simply having a big idea to already generating revenue. Social enterprises include businesses that have a social or environmental benefit mission along with a revenue-generation model.
Winners of the pitch competition will enter the EPIC Social Enterprise Program and receive up to $8,000 to develop their businesses over a 16-week period, provisionally scheduled from October 1 to January 31.
Find eligibility criteria and an online registration form on the EPICentre website.
The public is invited to look on during the pitch session, from 1 to 3 p.m. September 21, on the second floor of the Joyce Entrepreneurship Centre.
