A party Thursday, November 1, in the Leddy Library will kick off its series of weekly gatherings for participants in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).
NaNoWriMo challenges participants to write a 50,000-word novel in just 30 days. The only rules are that they must begin on November 1, and no editing is allowed. The library will host write-ins every Thursday in November from 6 to 9 p.m. in room 302 of its West Building.
“So many people get bogged down worrying about grammar and writing poignant prose that they can’t finish a novel,” says organizer Helen Power. “Write your first draft during NaNoWriMo, and the editing can wait until December!”
The Leddy’s write-ins are open to all comers, not just those with a UWindsor connection. Learn more about National Novel Writing Month at nanowrimo.org. The November 1 kick-off promises treats, games, and prizes, and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Find more information on the event website.
