Music school opening to sponsor student scholarship

A new music school will celebrate its opening by launching a scholarship to support a year of lessons for a child in need.

UWindsor alumna Bethany Russell (BMus 2018) is the founder of Brava Studios, which offers private instruction in piano and voice, classes in music theory and ukulele, summer camps, the Jingles4Juniors early music education program, and more.

She says she is excited to offer quality music education to the city.

“At Brava, we believe everyone should have access to music, no matter who they are,” says Russell. “Through our competitive pricing and our scholarship programs, we strive to make musical education something that is accessible to everyone.”

She has partnered with New Beginnings, a non-profit agency serving at-risk youth, to sponsor music education for a child. A raffle will raise funds for the scholarship during the grand opening event on Sunday, Dec. 16.

The public is invited to tour the school at 755 Tecumseh Rd. East from 1 to 4 p.m. Besides the raffle, the event promises live entertainment and discounts on some programs. Find more information, including how to buy a $15 raffle ticket in advance of the draw, on the event Facebook page.
