“Advancing Accessibility Together” is the theme of Accessibility Awareness Day, highlighting efforts to eliminate barriers and create a more inclusive campus for all.
Organizers want to bring elements of the March 27 conference out of the confines of the student centre, making the experience more accessible to students, staff and faculty. Accessibility Passport Pop-Up Tables will be located across the main and downtown campuses where conferees can participate in at least two activities to enter for a chance to win a Via Rail sponsored prize.
The new format will require volunteer help to staff the tables. To learn more, contact organizers at aad@uwindsor.ca.
The day will also feature a keynote address by disability rights advocate David Lepofksy. A lawyer and educator, he most recently created videos that help to highlight barriers that make buildings challenging for persons with disabilities.
Advance registration for Accessibility Awareness Day is open through March 8. Find details on the conference website.
