Windsor Public Library bookmobile returning to campus Wednesday

FRED, the Windsor Public Library Bookmobile, will make the Leddy Library a regular stop, returning to campus every three weeks until April 17.

FRED will be on campus for Windsor Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. starting tomorrow, Feb. 13, and returning on March 6, March 27, and April 17.

The scheduled visits correspond with the item loan period, allowing patrons to return borrowed material directly to the bookmobile.

FRED, a friendly acronym for the “Freedom to Read, Educate and Discover,” is the Windsor Public Library on wheels. It delivers both recreational and educational materials to campus for borrowers. Leddy Library encourages students, faculty, and staff to come out and see what FRED has to offer.

With a Windsor Public Library membership, patrons can take advantage of an extended collection and get access to popular books; DVDs; magazines; games; international, national, and local newspapers; and thousands of e-resources — including popular digital streaming apps like Kanopy and Hoopla that provide access to movies, documentaries, eBooks, and audiobooks.

The public library also offers pre-loaded tablet loans and even a tool-lending library.

All University of Windsor students, faculty, and staff are eligible for membership. To set up a membership during FRED’s visit, bring:

  • a valid UwinCARD,
  • one piece of government-issued photo ID, and
  • a document with your current mailing address.
