Catherine McKeeverA concert Saturday in the SoCA Armouries will honour the legacy of voice teacher Catherine McKeever, who died in 2012.

Concert to lift voices in memory of teacher

Lilly Korkontzelos and Leah Wilkinson Arvidsson both received the Catherine McKeever Voice Scholarship while studying at the University of Windsor.

Now the vocalists are among the performers who will take to the stage in the SoCA Armouries on Saturday, Sept. 28, to support the fund, which keeps alive the memory of the voice instructor, who died in October 2012.

The program promises audiences vocal performances in a variety of styles — Broadway showstoppers and Beatles favourites, classical opera arias and duets, and standards from the great American songbook.

The Catherine McKeever Memorial Concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Performance Hall located at 37 University Ave. E. Find the full program on the event website.

Admission is by donation, with all proceeds benefiting the scholarship fund, established to support altos and mezzo-sopranos studying in the School of Creative Arts. This year’s recipient will be announced at the concert. To make an online donation, specify “Catherine McKeever Scholarship” at www.uwindsor.ca/donations.
