A host of UWindsor alumni and students will be among the performers at a charity concert Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Olde Walkerville Theatre.
The Rose City Christmas Cabaret will benefit Sparky’s Toy Drive, which provides gifts to local children in need.
The event is a collaboration between two of Windsor’s finest young jazz groups — the Coffee House Combo and the Border City Collective — and features a cash bar, cabaret-style seating, and a diverse program of holiday favourites spanning genres from big band jazz to Motown and soul.
The personnel includes alumni saxophonists Caterina Augimeri and Sebastian Bachmeier, drummers Nicholas Baddeley and Vanessa Harnish, trumpeters Austin DiPietro and Matthew Lepain, and guitarist Logan Fletcher, and current students Alex Adeira-Leite and Noah Renaud on bass, pianist Andrew Adoranti, vocalists Natalie Culmone and Kaitlyn Karns, and trombonist Mackenzie Walsh.
The show gets underway at 7 p.m. in the theatre, located at 1564 Wyandotte St. East.
Admission is $15 in advance through Eventbrite.ca or $20 at the door payable in cash or with a toy donation of comparable value. All proceeds go to Sparky’s Toy Drive.
