Student centre offering virtual fun to keep clients connected

A draw this week for a year’s worth of free Netflix will kick off a series of online events and giveaways by the Student Centre.

“My focus is for students to still know that they are always going to be our focus, in person or virtually as we transition to this life on pause for the moment,” says Sandra Riccio-Muglia, the centre’s director of events and programming. “The aim is to keep them engaged in mind, body, and Lancer spirit.”

Starting at noon today, UWindsor students can recommend their favourite Netflix show on the centre’s Facebook page. A random winner will be drawn at 9 p.m. Sunday, April 26, to win a subscription to the streaming service.

Riccio-Muglia plans a total of four draws over the next month for similar electronic entertainment in a program she has punningly dubbed “hAPPy days ahead!”

It’s just one of the projects she anticipates helping to alleviate the loneliness of social isolation.

“In a time when we feel disconnected, we will still find ways to stay connected,” she says. “You will see a variety of different things coming your way, from giveaways to live social engagements. Once life gets back to normal, we want to see you come back though our student centre doors.”
