Promotion recognizes law professor’s contributions

Promotion of Windsor Law professor Myra Tawfik to the rank of Distinguished University Professor, the University’s highest, recognizes her contributions as an innovative research scholar and teacher, says dean Christopher Waters.

“Prof. Tawfik’s expertise on intellectual property law and intellectual property law strategy has been recognized locally, provincially, and nationally, but despite this prominence, her commitment to mentoring students on our campus has never wavered,” he said.

A professor at the University of Windsor since 1991, Tawfik has founded a number of intellectual property clinical and experiential initiatives to support Windsor-Essex startups.  Her administrative service includes stints as associate dean from 1998 to 2000, and as acting dean in 2011 and 2017.

She will formally accept conferral of this appointment during Convocation ceremonies in the fall. Read more on the Windsor Law website.
