UWindsor Pride Committee seeking new members

The University of Windsor Pride Committee is looking for volunteers to help plan and execute campus-wide pride events for the upcoming academic year, including UWindsor’s participation in the virtual Windsor-Essex Pride Fest taking place August 22 and 23, 2020.

Originally formed in July 2019, organizing committee was put in place to guide the University of Windsor participation in the Windsor Essex Pride parade.

Building from last year’s successful participation, the committee recently reformed to continue the planning for this year's pride parade.

With the recent decision to deliver the Windsor-Essex Pride Fest virtually due to COVID-19, the committee has also decided to expand its focus to include programming for the UWindsor community during the community festival.

Recognizing the need for continued LGBTQ2+ support and education on campus, the committee has also decided to extend their its to include new events and educational opportunities through the academic year.

Anne Rudzinski, sexual wellness and consent co-ordinator and the operational lead on the committee, says she is “excited” about extending an invitation for new membership.

“Last year we had a great time participating in the Pride Parade,” she says. “This year we’re looking forward to planning a variety of events and content, expanding our reaching beyond the parade so folks can come together and celebrate pride online.”
