Students new to the University of Windsor can register now for a session of the Head Start orientation program for an introduction to campus facilities and services, as well as academic expectations at the university level.
Attendees will tour the grounds and buildings, explore residence halls, receive information on managing finances and classwork, and learn about strategies and resources they can utilize to be a successful student.
Faculty-specific dates will also provide an opportunity to meet professors and gain insight into individual programs of study. There are five in-person dates and one virtual date for those unable to attend in person.
- Friday, July 8 - science and education
- Saturday, July 9 - Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and education
- Friday, July 15 - human kinetics, business, and nursing
- Friday, July 22 - engineering
- Saturday, Aug. 6 - general and mature, transfer, or part-time students
- Friday, Aug. 12 - online
“There is an advantage to attending a faculty-specific date, if possible,” says student development specialist Amber Norman. “Coming on our general date or online date will still give them the basic information they need however it won’t be specific to their faculty.”
She also encourages new students to attend in person if they can.
“Being in person means that they get to see physical campus, which is something that they can’t do as well online,” Norman says. “The virtual campus tour is good, but it’s not quite the same as seeing the classrooms you’ll be in, come September.”
