Lancer honoured by pro basketball league

The Canadian Elite Basketball League named Lancer Thomas Kennedy its 2022 U Sports player of the year.

Kennedy played for the CEBL’s Fraser Valley Bandits this summer, averaging 14.5 points, 8.3 rebounds — third in the league — and two assists per game on 63.6 per cent shooting from the field, second in the league.

“I am grateful for the summertime experiences that the CEBL has given me as a young athlete,” Kennedy said. “Coaches, staff, and the Bandits organization supported me all summer and consistently put me in a position to succeed and showcase my talent.”

The six-foot-nine forward will return to play for the Lancer men’s basketball team this fall. He was named a first-team all-star by Ontario University Athletics last season, after finishing first in rebounds, third in points, fourth in shooting percentage, and seventh in blocks.
