To commemorate the upcoming Orange Shirt Day, Turtle Island Walk has been lit with orange lights in a spirit of hope and reconciliation to honour residential school survivors, their families, and communities, bringing light to the impacts of the policies and actions of the Government of Canada and the churches that operated residential schools.

The campus community is encouraged to partner in the work of reconciliation by listening, learning, and sharing on Orange Shirt Day, Friday, Sept. 30.

The committee has updated the website to house information on upcoming events and resources, including:

• stories from the Indigenous community about their residential school experiences;
• details of upcoming events;
• healing and support resources for the Indigenous community; and
• educational resources for the campus community.

In addition, the community can also purchase Orange Shirt Day T-shirts and lawn signs. This year the committee has also added youth T-shirt sizes and a campus community cookbook.

• Adult shirts are $25 each; youth shirts are $20 each
• Lawn signs are $25 each
• Campus community cookbook are $30

Proceeds of the sales will directly fund Indigenous students.

Merchandise will be available for pick up at the CAW Student Centre Commons on Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
