Visiting fellow to offer workshops on grading, engagement, and scholarship

The Centre for Teaching and Learning will host educational developer Laura Cruz as a visiting fellow from Nov. 18 to Dec. 9.

Dr. Cruz is an associate research professor of teaching and learning scholarship with the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence at Pennsylvania State University. She previously served as the director of two centres for teaching and learning, as editor-in-chief of four teaching-related journals, and as an elected member of the national board for faculty developers in the United States.

During her stay, she will offer three workshops:

Cruz’s published work comprises more than 100 studies in history, pedagogy, instructional design, organizational change, and educational development, including her most recent co-authored book, Taking Flight: Making your Center for Teaching and Learning Soar.

Since 2007, the CTL has hosted more than 40 visiting fellows from the U.S.A., Canada, Jamaica, Australia, England, Belgium, New Zealand, South Africa, Nigeria, and China.
