Varsity competitions lined up for weekend

Lancer football may be on a bye week, but there is plenty of other varsity action for fans this weekend, on the diamond, the court, the ice, and the links.

Baseball will compete in the Far West Regionals at Libro Field, playing Western at noon Friday, Waterloo at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Laurier at noon Saturday. The qualifiers will meet in the championship game Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Softball will host Guelph on Friday at 7 and 9 p.m. and Waterloo on Saturday at noon and 2 p.m., all at Mic Mac Park.

Golfers are at Ambassador Golf Club for the Lancer Invitational tournament Saturday and Sunday.

Men’s hockey will open its season on the road, in Toronto to play the TMU Bold at 6 p.m. Friday and the Toronto Varsity Blues at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Both contests will be streamed live on OUA.tv.

The Toldo Lancer Centre will see basketball exhibition play, as the Lancer women take on Nipissing at 6 p.m. Friday, and both Windsor squads host Eureka College on Saturday. The men will tip off at noon and the women at 3 p.m.

The Lancer Centre will close Monday for the Thanksgiving holiday and re-open for regular hours on Tuesday.
