Every Child Matters flag lowered at ceremony.

Campus ceremony retires commemorative flag

The Every Child Matters flag was retired in a ceremony attended by members from across the campus community on Monday at Chrysler Hall Tower.

Elder Myrna Kicknosway and Provost Robert Aguirre spoke about the enduring consequences and the university's commitment to honour the missing children of Canada's residential school system. Those who gathered silently observed a traditional flag song as it was lowered down the mast.

Upon conclusion of the ceremony, those in attendance joined Elder Kicknosway and members of the campus Indigenous community for lunch and refreshments.
