Comedy makes way to University Players stage

University Players presents the farce The Play That Goes Wrong at Essex Hall Theatre from Nov. 24 to Dec. 3, with evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

As the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society attempts to stage a murder mystery play, the show literally falls to pieces. Actors and crew struggle to keep the show afloat, collapsing in a hilarious series of mishaps, missteps, and mayhem.

Directed by Alice Nelson, the cast features acting students from the School of Dramatic Art, including Jackson Balint as Chris, the director of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, and Natasha Fishman as Sandra, the leading lady. The production team includes set designer Nancy Perrin, lighting designer Kirsten Watt, and costume designer Agatha Knelsen.

“What makes The Play That Goes Wrong stand out is that it’s a non-stop rollercoaster ride of surprises for the audience — and for the actors from the Cornley Drama Society,” says Nelson. “It’s a perfect show for the holiday season, with plenty of laughs and surprises. Our cast and crew are working hard to create a fun and memorable experience for audiences of all ages.”

Tickets are available for purchase online at the University Players website, by phone at 519-253-3000, ext. 2808, or in person at the University of Windsor box office. Student and group discounts are available.
