Performance competition to determine music scholarship winner

Music students who finished atop the December juries in their instruments will vie for the Ron W. Ianni Memorial Performance Scholarship on Friday — and the recital is free to attend.

Established in 2005 to honour the late president of the University of Windsor, the annual $500 juried prize is open only to full-time music students.

This year’s competitors include:

  • Madeline Abanid, jazz voice
  • Josh Dunkley, classical voice
  • Yu-Jin Kwon, classical piano
  • Joseph Maceroni, jazz drums
  • Calvin Sulja, jazz bass
  • Dreya Whited, jazz clarinet
  • Alice Zacharias, classical violin

The recital is open to the public and will begin at noon Jan. 17 in the Armouries Performance Hall at 353 Freedom Way.
