Survey to measure student mental health and well-being

Student Health, Counselling, and Wellness Services, in collaboration with the Food Security Action Plan Committee from the Office of the Vice-President, People, Equity, and Inclusion, has launched the Canadian Campus Wellbeing Survey.

Developed by the University of British Columbia specifically for Canadian post-secondary institutions, the survey is designed to assess the mental health and well-being needs of students, with results helping to inform related programming and service provision. Distribution of the survey will also allow for comparison of results to other schools on a provincial and national level.

“The survey gives us a chance to learn more about the current mental and physical health needs of UWindsor students, compare trends between schools, and monitor changes over time,” says Mohsan Beg, clinical psychologist and director of Student Health, Counselling and Wellness Services. “It’s a powerful tool that lets us incorporate student-driven data directly into our campus wellbeing programming, services, and strategic planning.”

The survey is voluntary and completely confidential. In just 15 to 20 minutes, students can provide input on such key topics as student experience, mental health, physical health, academic achievement, help-seeking behaviors, substance use, sexual health, housing security, and food security.

Participants will be automatically entered into a prize draw, where they will have the chance to win:

  • 1 of 4 $750 prizes towards tuition,
  • 1 of 5 $250 Visa gift cards, or
  • 1 of 25 $25 Campus Bookstore gift cards

All students have received a unique survey link in their UWindsor email inbox and will have until 5 p.m. April 4 to complete it. For more information, click here.
