International students enjoy a welcome from Windsor

More than 350 new students coming to UWindsor this fall from overseas—including almost 90 exchange students—help to define the campus as an international destination, says Enrique Chacon.

The international student advisor helped to organize orientation sessions especially for this group, with sessions Sunday and Monday on topics ranging from adjusting to Canada’s culture and climate, understanding expectations for academic integrity, and dealing with visa and immigration issues.

Paschal Dim said that he already made some new friends during a welcoming barbecue on Sunday.

International Student Centre to host screening of Euro Cup final

Soccer fans hoping to join a crowd to watch the championship match in the 2012 Euro Cup tournament are in luck—the International Student Society is hosting a screening of the game Sunday, July 1, starting at 2:30 p.m. in the International Student Centre, on the second floor of Laurier Hall.

“We will welcome everyone that wants to watch,” says Enkel Doci,, the society’s vice-president administration. “In addition, we will provide soft drinks and snacks for those that show up.”

International students celebrate opening of new centre

The new location of the International Student Centre is “amazing,” says Paran Ahluwalia.

The fourth-year electrical engineering major, a native of India, is president of the International Student Society. She was on hand Thursday for a reception celebrating the grand opening of the centre, on the second floor of Laurier Hall.

“The staff here are so nice,” she says. “I hope the beautiful new space means more international students will come here.”

Reception to celebrate official opening of International Student Centre

The International Student Centre invites the campus community to celebrate its new location during an official opening ceremony on Thursday, February 16.

An open house reception runs 2 to 4 p.m. with the ceremony scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

The centre, located on the second floor of Laurier Hall, is accessed through a dedicated entrance toward the north end of the building’s west wall. To arrange for access to an elevator, please phone 519-253-3000, ext. 3938.
