The International Wednesdays documentary film series presents a free screening of Up the Yangtze today at noon in the International Student Centre.
The film traces the dramatic story of a river cruise, set against the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest hydroelectric project.
The International Student Centre is located on the second floor of Laurier Hall.
The University has declared film editing equipment and supplies including a viewer, splicer, sound recorders, film reels and cans for sale by bid as Disposal File 861.

The notion of burden of proof is central to the study of argumentation, says Douglas Walton, “indeed one could argue that it is the most fundamental concept in this area.”
He will survey the different kinds of burden of proof recognized in recent studies on artificial intelligence and law, and discusses whether these notions are transferable to everyday conversational argumentation, in a free public lecture Tuesday, January 24, at 4:30 p.m. in Assumption University’s Freed-Orman Centre.

A new program will help enterprising university and college graduates take the first step towards startup success in the innovation and technology sector in Windsor-Essex.
The DeskUP program will provide office space in the Windsor Business Accelerator, at 720 Ouellette Avenue -- including a computer, telephone, printer, and access to professional meeting space and a shared receptionist.

Denise Brockmann, a cafeteria cashier who died January 15, is remembered as someone good to work with, says Mark Bagley, manager of satellite operations.
“She was a good worker and very, very pleasant to be around,” he said. “She will be missed by her friends and co-workers here. Our condolences from all food services staff go out to her family.”
