Applications for Strategic Priority Fund due January 16

Provost Leo Groarke extended the deadline for applications to the University’s Strategic Priority Fund to Monday, January 16.

The fund earmarks about $1.5 million for projects directed to the five goals highlighted in the University’s strategic plan:

Begin planning early for June power shut-down

Facility Services will be carrying out a campus-wide power shut down on Sunday, June 24, 2012, from 7a.m. until 1 p.m. in order to complete maintenance work to the high voltage substation.

During this time no back-up power will be available.  Each area will be responsible for obtaining its own generators if required and is asked to begin planning early for the shut-down.

Mental Health Awareness events scheduled for January

The Mental Health Awareness Week Committee is busy preparing events for On the Road to Mental Health, for Mental Health Awareness week, taking place January 16 to 20th. Highlights of the week’s events will include a talk by former Barenaked Ladies lead singer Steven Page.

Faculty and staff Mingle and Jingle all the way

A sweet table worthy of Willy Wonka, complete with a river of chocolate and a traditional horse-drawn carriage ride, were some of the highlights of this year’s Mingle and Jingle faculty and staff Christmas event held on Tuesday over the lunch hour in the Winclare room.

The stand-up party, with hors d’oeuvres, dessert and coffee stations is a departure from the formal sit-down luncheons of previous years and gives faculty and staff a chance to visit and catch up with friends, says catering manager Dean Kissner.
