Image library ready for checkout

Members of the UWindsor community looking for images to use on their Web sites and publications have a new resource available to them: a searchable database of photographs depicting campus life.

“It’s still very much in development, but we’re ready for people to start checking it out,” says Rob Aitkens, a graphic designer in public affairs who manages the Image Library. “It is being continually updated as we work through our photo archives.”

The library features hundreds of photos of people and spaces across campus and is aimed at providing general interest images rather than documenting specific individuals.

“We don’t have news shots and don’t plan to,” Aitkens says. “But the files are catalogued by location, academic discipline and subject matter.”

The library allows anyone to download images bearing a UWindsor watermark. By registering for a free account, users can access additional functions and are eligible to receive content without the watermark, suitable for use on Web pages.

The library does not contain images of the official University of Windsor logo. Those files are available for download with a UWin ID and password from the public affairs Web site.
