Important: The Faculty of Education does not pre-screen applicants for eligibility. Please review all requirements carefully before applying.
How to Apply
First, it is very important that you have read the program overview, including Broad-based Technology (BBT) Areas information.
Step 1: Submit Your Application
Submit an N80 application through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre – Teacher Education Application Services (OUAC-TEAS)
Step 2: Activate UWinsite Student Access
You will receive an application confirmation email from ADMISSIONS@uwindsor.ca with:
- Your student number
- A PIN
- User name
- Account activation instructions
Note:
- It may take several business days to arrive
- Check your junk/spam folders
- If not received within 10 business days, email ADMISSIONS@uwindsor.ca to request a resend
Step 3: Upload Supporting Documents
Upload all required documents to UWinsite Student only. Refer to: How to upload documents into UWinsite Student to support an undergraduate admission application(s).
Important: UWindsor's Faculty of Education cannot access documents uploaded to OUAC-TEAS (e.g. via SAM). Only documents uploaded to UWinsite Student will be reviewed (except official transcripts).
Required Supporting Documents
1. Official Transcripts
Refer to: How do I submit my official transcripts for admission processing ...
- Required from all postsecondary institutions attended
- Must be sent directly from the issuing institution
- Must include English translations, if applicable
If no postsecondary (college or univesity) education:
- Submit a secondary (high school) transcript. It must be sent directly from the issuing secondary school
- Do not submit a secondary school transcript if you attended college or university
2. Letter of Intent
- One-page personal statement outlining your motivation for becoming a Technological teacher
3. Résumé
Your résumé should provide a clear, well-organized, and concise overview of your experience relevant to the Broad-Based Technology Area of your application.
It must include:
Education
- Secondary and postsecondary education
- Start and end dates
- Degrees and/or diplomas
- Certificates and/or trade licences
Relevant Work Experience
- Experience in the Broad-based Technology Area of your application
- Employer name(s)
- Start and end dates
- Brief description of each position
Note: Work experience does not include teaching experience. Refer to: Ontario College of Teachers Registration Guide: Requirements for Becoming a Teacher of Technological Education in Ontario (p.4)
4. Trade Licence (if applicable)
Required for compulsory trades (e.g. plumber, electrician, hairstylist, etc.)
Submit:
- Copy of valid trade licence
- Copf of valid trade certificate or proof of certification exam results (minimum 70% / B-) if recently completed
- Certificate of Apprenticeship (C of A)
Your trade certificate must be valid at the time of application.
If your trade legally requires certification, no alternative proof will be accepted.
5. Proof of Work Experience
You will need to show that you have accumulated 5 years of work experience (1,700 hours = 1 year), outside of teaching, in your technological field. This experience must be wage-earning and include at least 2 years of work of which at least 4 months must be continuous employment.
At UWindsor, you may meet the 5-year requirement through a combination of 1 of 4 different pathways:
1. Trade (3 years wage-earning experience) + 2-year college degree or diploma
2. Trade (2 years wage-earning experience) + 3-year college degree or diploma
3. Trade (X years wage-earning experience) + university degree (for a total of 5 years)
4. Trade (at least 5 years wage-earning experience) + Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or its equivalent
Acceptable Documentation
Employment (Employer or Union)
Submit a signed letter on official company or union letterhead from a supervisor familiar with your work. The letter must include:
- Employment duration (start and end dates; full-time or part-time status)
- Description of duties, including specific knpowledge and skills used
- If applicable, details of managerial or supervisory responsibilities
If Standard Documentation is Not Available
In exceptional circumstances (e.g., business closure, retirement of employer, family business, or confidentiality concerns), the following may be accepted together:
1. A sworn statement (signed by a commissioner of oaths) explaining why documentation is unavailable
2. A sworn statement (signed by a commissioner of oaths) detailing:
- Employment duration (start and end dates)
- Duties and responsibilities
- Specific knowledge and skills used
3. Supporting proof of income:
- T4 slips or
- An accountant's statement confirming income
Self-Employed Applicants
If you were self-employed or operated a sole proprietorship, you must submit all of the following:
1. A sworn statement (signed by a commisioner of oaths) confirming:
- Self-employment status
- Employment duration (start and end dates)
- Duties and skills used
- That you have not been subject to legal action related to your business
2. Proof of business operation:
- Business licence or registration
3. Proof of income:
- Tax assessments showing self-employment or
- An accountant’s statement or
- An annual report
4. Third-party verification:
- At least 3 letters from suppliers or clients confirming work completed. Letters must not be from family members

Proof of English Language Proficiency
If English is not your first language and you have not lived in an English-speaking country for 5 years or more, you must meet the minimum English language requirements. Refer to: What are the English language proficiency requirements for an Undergraduate student? and the University of Windsor Senate Policy: English Language Proficiency Requirements (Undergraduate and Graduate).
