Open Researcher and Contributor ID
- Ensures all your articles are linked to you, regardless of name or institutions changes, and disambiguates any articles from authors with similar names
- Takes the form of a unique, randomly assigned 16-digit alphanumeric code
- Persistent personal identifier: stays with you no matter where you go, or what variations of your name you use
- Can be included in many journals, etc, and added to your submissions to Scholarship at UWindsor
- Also allows you to create a profile that includes as much or as little information about you/your scholarship as you choose to share

Profile Creation
- Register for ORCID
- You can use any or all of your UWin email address, a personal email address, or an email address provided by another institution/organization
- Set your initial privacy level: you can change this later
- Once you're registered, sign in and populate your profile
- If applicable, you can add one or more "also known as" name variations
- Add your education, employment, funding, and "works" (publications, conference presentations, datasets, etc)
- You don't have to add all your works yourself! Add us as a trusted individual and we can populate your profile for you
- If you do want to add works yourself, you can do so by importing from another system, importing from BibTex, or entering works manually.
- Then, start using your ORCID!
