Remote Access to E-Books: for Windsor Law and Campus Users

Note: Campus users with a valid UWIN id and password will be allowed access to e-books in our Proview subscription and library catalogue; only Windsor Law faculty and students with authorized credentials have access to WestlawNext Canada and Lexis Advance Quicklaw (Law faculty and students: please contact a librarian at lawreference@uwindsor.ca if you have not set up your accounts).

How to Access the Following Resources from Home:

 

Omni (shared library catalogue)

Both Leddy and Law libraries share the online catalogue, where both print and electronic items can be searched.

After typing your search string, select Library Catalogue only (results include books and journal titles - NOT articles); look for books and journals that are available electronically

Leddy Ebooks

Search for additional Leddy titles not found in your Omni search. Under the E-Books webpage is a listing of various database collections that can be individually searched.

Proview

Access Carswell looseleaf titles that the law library subscribes to electronically.

Click on Subject ALL to view legal topics to view titles listed under these subject headings

Lexis Advance Quicklaw

Login with your individual ID and password

On the homepage, click on the Browse button (located on the topleft corner)

Choose the jurisdiction (ex. Canada); under All Sources tree, select By Category; select Secondary Sources

Filter by Content Type: Textbooks and Subscription: In Plan (optional: Jurisdiction, Legal Topics, etc)

WestlawNext Canada

Login with your OnePass:

Client ID field must be filled in (tip: it can be the name of your search or course assignment)

Once on the homepage, under the Commentary heading, choose Texts and Annotations

  • To access the McGill Guide 9th edition, either click on the McGill Guide tab OR McGill Guide link under the Finding Tools heading.

You can now find titles by browsing the centrally located alphabetical title browse feature -or- by typing in keywords in the search box found at the top and then narrowing results using the filters on the left hand menu.
