Karamah - The Project on Judicial Independence and Human Dignity

Supported by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), KARAMAH - The Project on Judicial Independence and Human Dignity is a joint initiative of The Faculty of Law at The University of Windsor, The Institute of Law at Birzeit University, and The Palestinian Judicial Institute. It benefits from the invaluable advice of several senior Canadian judges.

Our core objective is to promote access to justice in the Palestinian areas by:

  • Supporting the development of an independent and highly trained judiciary through judicial education;
  • Promoting increased awareness of the principles of judicial independence and human dignity through stakeholder outreach and awareness campaigns;
  • Providing timely and accurate information and analysis through comprehensive research.
  • Capacity-building and policy development within the justice sector.
