Everyone is invited to participate in enjoying the Poetry of many Authors and to share in creating Poetry and Prose of their own.It’s not necessary to have a Poetry background to enjoy this rewarding experience.Ian Henderson and others will assist us as we work in a supportive atmosphere practising writing craft with creative activities.

Guest writers and poets are often invited to visit our classes and engage in sharing compositions.

How did Sandwich Towne get started. Become familiar with the early families and with the early buildings. Have a look at the architecture of that time. Several guest presenters will share their knowledge and expertise with the class. The last session will be a walking tour of Olde Sandwich in April or May.

Lawyers and others with Legal Backgrounds will visit our class to discuss our current legal system and the role of lawyers .  We’ll spent time becoming more familiar with our laws and how they apply to areas such as family law, immigration law, mediation, etc. Participants will be encouraged to discuss current issues and experiences that they’ve heard of or encountered.

This course will address the history of marriage and sexuality, including discussion of the social and economic functions of marriage, the shaping of gender, interracial and same-sex unions, contraception, and abortion. Tina Simmons will bring, to these  classes, years of knowledge from her role teaching Women’s Studies at the University of Windsor.

Our enthusiastic leader Anne McCallum will lead us through some very interesting experiences in “dance”. The class will begin each session with simple warm-up stretching exercises using a chair for support. Then we’ll work on the basic steps and patterns and dance to wonderful traditional music. Great exercise for the body and mind, uplifting and, as the dancers say, ‘so much fun!’ Come join us! No partner necessary. Bring comfortable shoes with soles that won’t stick to the floor.

Experience Storytelling and Meaning. Norm King will lead us on a story journey. We will be looking for profound human experiences as expressed in image and story, and for ways to understand and live those meaningfully. Experiences such as wonder and beauty, joy and anxiety, solitude and love, fear and hope, forgiveness and healing can be found in music and other arts, as well as in stories.

Participants in these sessions will experience, with Al Linnell, simple rhythms using drumming techniques and a variety of hand drums and Latin percussion hand instruments.Techniques will be performed in a circular format – hence the name ‘drum circle’.No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to have fun.

Norm Ross has led people of all ages in the very interesting practice of Tae Kwon Do – a South Korean Martial Art and Olympic sport.  It will be a fun and safe program introducing us to fundamental skills and stances, including self-defence, poomsae (set movements) and terms.  This training improves concentration, confidence, balance, mind-body awareness and coordination.  Classes will start with warmups and stretches.  Please dress comfortably with gym appropriate footwear.
